If you live in Chicago, then you know that although it’s mid-summer, the warm weather wave has been slow moving. For a girl who enjoys an impulse buy it was easier to think sweater than swimsuit. June was more, slicker and a good pair of goulashes, then a sun dress and sexy pair of espadrilles. Chic c’est la vie. The heat index is up and with it the hemlines! What’s OnePRgirl to do when she has neglected her summer wardrobe until July? Shop. Because, by God, summer is here, and I am melting over my Top Five Mid-Summer Must-Haves.
1. Shades of Back When:
Whether you find homage with retro sunglasses, or an authentic vintage pair, this summer’s specs are all about that nostalgic flare. I love the designs by Karen Walker. Check out my favorites pictured above, the Number One Sunglasses are the perfect accessory for OnePRgirl.
2. Get Nailed:
Hey- money’s tight, right? An easy and inexpensive way to spruce up your summer style is to change your nails. So, take a page out of Lauren Conrad’s book, and let your nails say, “I know what’s up.”
3. Feathered Hair:
We’re not talkin’ Farrah Fawcett. Literal feathers. This summer’s hair trend is like a phoenix rising from the ashes… feathers and all.
4. A One-Piece of Inspiration:
Another trend that harkens back to the good old days. I am all for an inie-minie-miney maillot, but this summer I am going mad for this swim costume by Zimmermann. If this get-up doesn’t give you a stroke of inspiration- Check. Your. Pulse.
5. Power Shortage:
One last blast from the fashion past emerges to finish off this list of seasonal stuff, and they are swell! Let’s just say- although the power may be come and go this summer- your style is electric! These Stretch Bull Denim high-waist cuff shorts from American Apparel are my pick for this Mid-Summer score. I like them in the red.
There you have it…Enjoy the rest of the summer sun. One last thing: from OnePrGirl to another, ALWAYS wear SPF on your face! Tootles!
